After placing third overall for the regular season at the University Athletic Association (UAA) volleyball tournament this past weekend, senior Chisom Amaechi and the rest of the Tartans are eagerly waiting to hear whether or not they received a bid to the NCAA tournament.
Men’s soccer defeats fourth-ranked Emory 4–2
The Carnegie Mellon men’s soccer team defeated the Emory University Eagles 4–2 in a hard-fought game Saturday. The Tartans staged an incredible comeback from a 2–0 deficit to score four goals in under 35 minutes.
Volleyball finishes third in UAA, awaits playoff fate
Carnegie Mellon volleyball finished the regular season with one of the strongest performances in school history and now has the chance to receive an NCAA tournament bid. The Tartans finished third overall in University Athletic Association (UAA) play after four strong performances against Case Western Reserve University, New York University, Washington University in St. Louis, and Brandeis University.
Swimming defeats Clarion
The men’s swimming and diving team out performed Clarion University Saturday by winning the meet for the fourth straight year with a score of 153–147. The women’s team lost in a close race 154–145 to Clarion by a tight margin of 11 points, despite outstanding performances by much of the team.
Women’s soccer falls to Emory 0–1 in double OT
A 105th-minute goal made the difference in a thrilling head-to-head battle Saturday when the Carnegie Mellon women’s soccer team played host to the Eagles of Emory University in the team’s final University Athletic Association (UAA) contest, which ran into double overtime.
Football loses 38–13 to host Case Western Reserve
At the conclusion of its second University Athletics Association (UAA) contest, Carnegie Mellon lost 38–13 in a one-sided affair to Case Western Reserve University, ranked 13th nationally, as the Spartans defended their 2007 UAA title. This loss drops the Tartans to 4–5 overall (0–2 in the UAA), and bumps the Spartans up to a 9–0 overall, (2–0 in the UAA).
