    Since the days of Immanuel Kant, Jeremy Bentham, and John Stuart Mill, a continuing ethical debate has raged between consequentialist ethics and nonconsequentialist ethics. Consequentialists believe that the morality of an action lies in its consequences, while nonconsequentialists believe that ethics are mostly based on intentions.

  • No need for marijuana to remain illegal in Pa.

    Senator Daylin Leach (D-Pa.) recently proposed a bill to the Pennsylvania state legislature to legalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana. It’s about time. Since states like Washington and Colorado legalized weed in the last election, the rest of the country, Pennsylvania included, needs to follow suit.

  • Fiscal progress rests on work, perseverance

    With the quasi-resolution of the fiscal cliff comes new taxes for everyone. Some of Obamacare’s 19 taxes are starting to kick in. The payroll tax cut expired, and some new taxes on the wealthy, such as the expiration of the Bush Tax Cuts and an additional 0.9 percent payroll tax for high earners as part of Obamacare, were allowed to take place.
