Fire Alarm

at 4:39 a.m.

A fire alarm sounded on the A-level of Porter Hall. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire arrived and found the cause to be excessive dust in the Colloids, Polymers, and Surfaces Laboratory. The area was cleared and the alarm was reset.

at 6:36 a.m.

A fire alarm was activated at Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute on Fifth Avenue. Three engines from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire came to the scene and determined that the fire alarm had been due to construction crews power-washing in the building’s interior.

Theft
April 19, 2008
at 10:03 p.m.

A student called University Police after he discovered his wallet was missing from the first floor atrium of the University Center. He had placed it next to him while sitting down in the black chairs but when he looked to find it again, it was not there.

Noise Complaint
April 20, 2008
at 2:23 a.m.

A student resident in Margaret Morrison Apartments reported excessive noise coming from a nearby apartment. University Police arrived on the scene and found a small group of students. The students were advised to quiet down.

Sexual Assault
April 20, 2008
at 10:54 p.m.

University Police were informed that a non-Carnegie Mellon student had been sexually assaulted Saturday night while walking through the Greek Quadrangle. According to the victim, a young male approached her, began talking animatedly, tried to kiss her, then proceeded to sexually assault her. The victim was taken to the hospital and later released. The case is still under investigation by University Police.

Suspicious Person

A male student was seen in the University Center who matched the description of a suspect in a theft at the bookstore in the last two weeks. University Police were called to the scene where they were able to apprehend and question the student.

at 12:54 a.m.

A student reported her book bag stolen from the first floor of Hunt Library. She had been studying at the tables in front of Maggie Murph Café. After leaving for a moment to use the restroom, she returned to find the bag gone.
