A man was seen carrying a laptop and wandering around the third floor of the East Campus Garage looking at the cars. A student reported to University Police that the actor had been walking back and forth for a long period of time. When they arrived on the scene, the actor had left the scene and no car damage or thefts were reported.
Theft

at 4:00 p.m.
A student reported his backpack stolen from an unsecured classroom on the first floor of Baker Hall. He believed it to have been stolen that morning and had not seen it since.
Suspicious Person

A female was seen in front of a university building trying to take pieces of the bushes. When a student approached the actor, she responded in very broken English that she was taking them for decoration. She left the scene quickly after being approached.
Protest

at 2:10 p.m.
The Pittsburgh City Police reported a protest to University Police. A group of gay rights activists were chanting and heading toward Forbes and Craig Street. They were shouting against Proposition 8, recently passed in California. City police later notified University Police that the group had passed Craig Street and was heading toward Schenley Plaza on the University of Pittsburgh campus.
Theft

An employee at Entropy+ in the University Center reported a student eating a bag of chips while in line who then ran out of the building before paying for them. The employee ran after the student but was not able to catch him.
Fire Alarm

at 2:59 a.m.
A fire alarm sounded in the Pi Kappa Alpha house and all of the brothers were evacuated. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire arrived on scene and found cigar smoke to have caused it. They found no additional signs of smoke or fire, reset the alarm, and allowed everyone to come back into the building.

at 8:40 a.m.
A university employee reported downspouts missing from the exterior of Porter Hall. The downspouts were used to drain rainwater from the roof. The employee did not know if the downspouts had fallen or been stolen.
