A student reported his bike missing from the bike rack in front of the University Center. He had left it there the previous day and believed it to have been taken that night.

Fire Alarm

at 3:32 a.m.

A fire alarm sounded in Morewood Gardens. The residents were evacuated from the building and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire arrived on the scene. There were no signs of fire or smoke so residents were allowed to return to their rooms.

Suspicious Vehicle
Sept. 28, 2008
at 9:47 p.m.

A student reported a vehicle stopped on the side of Junction Hollow Bridge. There was a driver in the vehicle, which remained unmoved. When University Police arrived on the scene, the vehicle had left the area.

Fire Alarm

at 12:39 p.m.

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire arrived on scene when a fire alarm sounded in Cyert Hall. They believed the alarm to have been activated because of something on the A or B levels but could not find any signs of smoke or fire and reset the alarm.

at 9:54 p.m.

A fire alarm sounded in the Pi Kappa Alpha house on the Fraternity Quadrangle. The alarm was deemed an alarm malfunction and there were no signs of smoke or fire. Facilities Management Services arrived quickly on the scene to fix it.

at 11:31 a.m.

A fire alarm sounded in the GSIA building and a building evacuation was ordered. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire arrived on scene and found the cause to be asbestos removal in the janitor’s closet on the building’s third floor. Facilities Management Services was notified and an electrician was brought over. The alarm was reset and students were allowed to go back into the building.

Theft

at 1:09 p.m.

A student called University Police reporting a boot missing from his car in Fraternity Quadrangle parking. He had seen both boots in the car the day before and he believed one to have been taken that past night.

Vandalism

at 5:49 p.m.

A student notified University Police when he found a scratch on the side of his car, which was parked in the East Campus Garage.
